  1. As we've discussed, I will be reading Middlesex (finally!) very soon. I'm currently reading my first Jodi Picoult book ever (Nineteen Minutes), so I looked at House Rules. Yep, added it. I've enjoyed all of Khaled Hosseini's books, and they definitely are a way to be enveloped into another culture.

With a quick thought about impactful books that looked at issues of diversity: Everything I've Never Told You is about a mixed race family in the 70s, Mao's Last Dancer is about a Chinese citizen who comes to America to train in ballet, and The Kitchen House looks at life on a Southern plantation plus The Kite Runner by K. Hosseini.

  2. House Rules is one of the few JP books I haven't read, though I'm hoping to.
